چکیده

Status of This Memo This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. Abstract In certain topologies, it is not necessary to run a multicast routing protocol. It is sufficient for a device to learn and proxy group membership information and simply forward multicast packets based upon that information. This document describes a mechanism for forwarding based solely upon Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) or Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) membership information.

Tuning the Behavior of the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) and Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) for Routers in Mobile and Wireless Networks

The Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) and Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) are the protocols used by hosts and multicast routers to exchange their IP multicast group memberships with each other. This document describes ways to achieve IGMPv3 and MLDv2 protocol optimization for mobility and aims to become a guideline for the tuning of IGMPv3/MLDv2 Queries, timers, and counter values.

Rfc 4541

This memo describes the recommendations for Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) and Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) snooping switches. These are based on best current practices for IGMPv2, with further considerations for IGMPv3and MLDv2-snooping. Additional areas of relevance, such as link layer topology changes and Ethernet-specific encapsulation issues, are also considered.

A Filtering Approach for an IGMP Flooding Resilient Infrastructure

The recent advent of the Internet multicast service has enabled a number of successful real-time multimedia applications. However, the wide-scale commercial deployment of multicast has run into significant challenges, and in particular security. The threats to the multicast infrastructure, whether they are intentional or not, mainly come from the edge. Several attacks arise from the use of grou...

Design and implementation of light-weight mobile multicast for fast MIPv6

Mobile multicast is a research hotspot and can provide many applications. Some mobile multicast schemes have been proposed, but most of them introduce new entities and study construction algorithms of the dynamic multicast delivery structure which is heavyweight for wireless devices. In this paper, we propose a light-weight mobile multicast (LMM) scheme for Fast Mobile IPv6 which reduces the re...

Multicast receiver access control by IGMP-AC

IP multicast is best-known for its bandwidth conservation and lower resource utilization. The present service model of multicast makes it difficult to restrict access to authorized End Users (EUs) or paying customers. Without an effective receiver access control, an adversary may exploit the existing IP multicast model, where a host or EU can join any multicast group by sending an Internet Grou...
